PURPOSE: To provide the title novel compound having powerful intake-inhibitory activity and lethal activity on various kinds of agricultural and sanitary insect pests, in particular, Diamond-back moth larvae, thus useful as an agricultural insecticide.
CONSTITUTION: The objective compound of formula I. [A is of formula II (R is methyl or acetyl)], which can be obtained by the following method: mutant Penicillium sp. K 00031 (FERM P-12386) is cultured at 22-30°C for 10-40 days in a rice medium prepared by boiling rice in deionized water, and the resulting metabolite is extracted from the cultured product with an organic solvent such as acetone, and the extract is then partitioned with a mixed liquid of water and ethyl acetate. Thence, the ethyl acetate layer is eluted with e.g. chloroform/ methanol and concentrated under vacuum, and the resultant pale yellow oily product is treated with silica gel thin layer chromatography. The content of the present compound in the preparations is pref. 1-90wt.%.
