PURPOSE: To collect the colored component such as blood and COD component in sewage, by using a clay mineral consisting essentially of dioctahedral montmorillonite and further trioctahedral magnesium phyllosilicate as the title sewage clarifier.
CONSTITUTION: A clay mineral consisting essentially of dioctahedral montmorillonite and having ≤15ml/2g degree of swelling by the ACC method, 50W90meq/100g cation exchange capacity, 90W250m2/ specific surface, and 4W8pH aq. suspension or a semisynthetic clay mineral contg. dioctahedral montmorillonite and octahedral magnesium phyllosilicate and having ≤15ml/g degree of swelling by the ACC method, 40W80meq/100g cation exchange capacity, 100W200m2/g specific surface, and 8W10pH aq. suspension is used as the component of the sewage clarifier. By this method, a blood component which has been difficult to collect can be completely collected and flocculated, and sewage can be clarified.
