To provide a needle holding device for sewing machine of being a simple construction and miniaturized, mounting the needle at the proper mounting position easily and positively and making it possible to be a low cost.

The head part of needle 7 is fitted to the insert hole 12c of needle holding part 12, the contacter 14 is inserted into the through hole 13a formed on the through part 13 and a needle 7 is fixed in pushing condition by pushing a contacter 14 with rotating operation of a clamp screw 15 which is separated from the contacter 14. As the contacter 14 is separated from the clamp screw 15, it moves to push the needle 7 direction via the through hole 13a without rotating and it makes it possible to mount it on the proper position easily and positively without an inclination and a downward movement of the needle 7. And as the setting is only the contacter 14 and clamp screw 15 on the through hole 13a, it is possible to construct a needle holding device 10 simply.
