To provide a sewing machine with a bobbin winding device supplying a bobbin thread to a bobbin without detaching the bobbin from a shuttle and safely and appropriately performing a sewing operation and a thread winding operation.
The sewing machine is provided with a driving force transmission means 330 slidably locked to a rotating hook 7 by a press contact member 332 and transmitting the rotation of the rotating hook 7 to a bobbin driving member 11, and a thread holding member 48 capable of holding or catching the vicinity of the thread end of either a needle thread US or a bobbin thread dedicated thread EDS supplied as the bobbin thread DS to the bobbin 22 at the thread winding operation. The driving force transmission means 330 is formed so as to be rotated integrally with the rotating hook 7 at the thread winding operation and to slip with the rotating hook 7 in the case that overloads exceeding the press contact force of the press contact member 332 are applied to the bobbin thread DS positioned on a supply side at the thread winding operation.
