To provide a sewing thread that can exert an excellent deodorizing effect on malodor such as of ammonia, amines, hydrogen sulfide, mercaptanes or the like, aldehydes and acetic acid contained abundantly in tobacco smell and the like even if a fabric has no deodorizing performance, shows little deterioration in deodorizing properties after laundering and is excellent in sewability for use in industrial sewing, household sewing or the like and sightly stitch appearance.

The sewing thread has a spun yarn containing 30 wt.% or more fiber subjected to graft copolymerization with a vinyl monomer having an acid group. It is preferable that a hydrogen ion of the acid group is substituted by a specific metal ion after grafting.
