To obtain a shampoo composition for applying on the hair or skin, showing a good foaming while washing, smoothness of the foam, creamy touch feeling and lasting property of the foam, capable of obtaining a sufficient washing effect and also having an excellent conditioning effect by imparting smoothness, softness and moist feeling to the hair over rinsing and finishing after drying.

This shampoo composition contains the following (A) to (C) components, i. e., (A) an N-acyl acidic amino acid salt, (B) an acylated hydrolyzed protein or its salt and (C) a cationic polymer.
