To provide a shape following mechanism capable of making vice pins follow a work shape to be locked into a three-dimensional shape, so that the mechanism can serve as a best suited clamp or tool for surely and quickly holding work of the same shape as the vice pins.
In the shape following mechanism, a tip locking claw 3a is hung from a front opening in a holding angular cylinder 2, a large number of stacked vice pins 3 with push-out ends 3b hung from a rear opening are slidably accumulated and accommodated, the accommodated vice pin 3 group is made to follow a work shape, and a pressing member 4 which locks the tip by making it match the work shape by fastening it from a direction orthogonal to a slide direction is arranged. Cross section shapes of the vive pins 3 accommodated in the holding angular cylinder 2 are formed line-symmetric with an axial line in which a wedge applying a pressing force to an X-Y direction is orthogonal to the fastening direction as a center, and a wedge-inclined face of each vice pin 3 and an inclined face of the pressing member 4 are made to closely contact with each other so that the pressing force by the pressing member 4 is propagated to the X-Y direction.
