1336366 Intermetallic compounds PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIESLtd 19 April 1971 [25 Feb 1970] 22299/71 Heading C1A [Also in Divisions C7 G1 and H1] Intermetallic compounds which on plastic deformation at a given temperature retain the deformed shape until heated to a transition temperature, characteristic of the compound, at which it regains its original shape, the compound having a 12 co-ordination number below the transition temperature and a not more than 8 (e.g. 6) co-ordination number above it are given as AuTi with optional addition of one of Fe, Co, Cu, Mn and Ni; Pd, Ti with optional additions of one of Fe, Co and Cu; NiTi with an addition of one of Cu, Pt, Pd, V and Zr; CuCoTi; PtCoTi; AuMn; AlCu; SnCu; MnCu; or ZnCu, all compounds being within specified ranges. Reference is made to deforming a lamp filament, putting it inside the envelope and heating to make it unfold in a non recurrent manner. A table of inter - metallic compounds of various formulae is given.
