To provide a shape straightening method of a metallic strip without causing any warpage even when being subjected to half etching.
In this method, the shape of the metallic strip having one side or both sides as a etching side is straightened with a shape straightening roll unit on which at least one or more shape straightening rolls and a plurality of backup rolls are zigzag arranged while imparting a prescribed unit tension by tension imparting mechanisms in front and in the rear. In the method, the unit tension to be imparted to the metallic strip is controlled within the range of 0.80 to 0.95 times the yield point of the metallic strip and also the permanent elongation percentage of the metallic strip which is imparted by pushing the shape straightening roll of the shape straightening roll unit in the metallic strip is controlled to 0.1 to 1.5%.
