Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shear band that can be used in a non-pneumatic tire and can improve the fuel efficiency by lowering the mass and the rolling resistance.SOLUTION: A shear band 205 for a non-pneumatic tire uses interlaced reinforcing elements 250 positioned within a shear layer 255 of elastomeric material. A variety of configurations may be used to create the interlaced positioning of the reinforcing elements including, e.g., a horizontal diamond or vertical diamond configuration.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
