PURPOSE: To eliminate error of length of a rod material to be sheared by measuring the temperature of the rod material before it is carried onto a shearing table then adjusting the shearing direction of the rod material on the shearing table based on the measured temperature thereafter adjusting the angular position of a gauge stopper based on the difference between the maximum and minimum temperatures.
CONSTITUTION: A thermometer 21 measures the temperature of a rod material arranged between a cooling bed 11 and an assembly chain 12 before it is carried onto a shearing table 13, then the measured temperature is converted through a thermo-converter 22 into an electrical signal which is fed to an operating unit 23. The operating unit 23 determines the shearing direction of the rod material on the shearing table 13 based on information such as the measured temperature of the rod material, angular position of a gauge stopper 15 fed from an angle regulator 26, linear expansion coefficient of the rod material fed from a computor 27. The determined position is fed to an electrical control board 24 which regulates the lateral shearing position of the rod material on the table 13. The operating unit 23 provides an angular position correcting signal for the stopper 15 in the shearing direction to the regulator 26 based on the difference between the maximum and minimum temperatures.
