Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheath material for batteries which is superior in heat sealability, hard to cause the exfoliation, and capable of being preferably adapted to various kinds of electrolyte, and which has good electrolyte resistance, and suitably serves as a sheath material for various batteries including lithium ion batteries, especially sheet-like slim lithium ion batteries; and an aluminum foil for such a sheath material for batteries.SOLUTION: A sheath material for batteries comprises a sealant layer, an adhesion layer, and aluminum foil. The aluminum foil has an oxide surface film formed on a surface thereof by an electrolytic process. The oxide surface film has a barrier type oxide surface film layer, and a porous oxide surface film layer. The porous oxide surface film layer has a thickness of 20-500 nm, and small holes which are formed in a surface thereof and have a diameter of 25-120 nm.
