Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To actualize a sheath material for electronic part items, having noncombustibility and explosion resistance free from fears of ignition and rupture even if an electronic part item is heated to an extraordinary high temperature and to provide a method for sheathing electronic parts using the sheath material.
SOLUTION: This sheath material for electronic part items is obtained by compounding a methylsilicone resin as a main component with magnesium silicate as a finely powdery glassy substance and further TiO2 or Al2O3 and a solvent and blending the mixture. This method for sheathing electronic parts comprises coating electronic part items with the sheath material, heating and baking the sheath material at a fixed temperature and thermally decomposing the methylsilicone resin into silicon oxide being an inorganic substance.
