To prevent displacement between a stack of sheets and a band caused when they move to a bundling position.

This sheet bundling device includes: an opening/closing shutter 18 on which sheets are stacked; a band supply mechanism that supplies a band 21 along the lower face of the opening/closing shutter 18; a freely-rotatable receiver 20 that is disposed below the opening/closing shutter 18 and receives by the use of its receiving face the band 21 supplied by the band supply mechanism and the stack of sheets 26 caused to fall by opening the shutter 18; a plurality of friction members 67 which project on the receiving face of the receiver 20 and support the band 21 while locally contacting with it; a sweeper 24 that moves the stack of sheets 26 and the band 21 to the bundling device 27 by pressing almost the central part of the upper face of the stack of sheets 26 received on the receiving face of the receiver 20 via a friction member 67; and a wrapping mechanism 34 that wraps the band 21 around the stack of the sheets 26 moved to the bundling position 27 by the sweeper 24, thereby bundling the stack of sheets 26.
