A pick-up roller 211 and a paper feeding roller 212 are configured to be driven by a brush motor to rotate through a one-way clutch. In the case wherein the system speed for conveying a thick paper is set at a low speed, after a time t2 when a leading edge of a recording sheet being conveyed by the paper feeding roller 212, which is driven by the brush motor to normally rotate at a low speed, passed a nip part of a pair of conveying rollers 214 on a downstream side and reached a position P, a high voltage reversed in plus and minus of the voltage to be applied to the brush motor is applied to drive for reverse rotation (from a time t3 to a time t4) so as to eliminate an insulating film piled on surfaces of the brush motor and the rectifier.
