PURPOSE: To prevent the tip of a paper sheet from biting into the nip of a register roller to cause the drift of an image, prevent the paper sheet from being folded, and surely correct a skew when a conveying roller upstream of the register roller is continuously driven after the tip of the stiff paper sheet forming no warp collides.
CONSTITUTION: A conveying roller 2 provided upstream of a register roller 3 is provided with a torque limiter 4 between its shaft 21 and a gear 6 driven by a drive section or between the shaft 21 and a rotor 22 made of a high-friction member. When the tip of a stiff paper sheet 1 forming no warp collides with the register roller 3, no excessive conveying force is applied to the paper sheet 1 to prevent the tip of the paper sheet l from forcefully biting into the nip of the register roller 2 or to prevent the paper sheet 1 from being folded, no warp is formed, and a skew can be corrected.
