To surely discharge sheets regardless of the kind of sheets in a sheet discharging device for pressing the rear end of a sheet to discharge the sheet to a discharge tray by using a pulse motor as the driving means of a sheet discharging means, and varying the pulse motor rotating speed according to the sheet discharge mode.
A sheet processing device in an image forming device such as printer is operated in a mode A for discharging reversed sheets one by one to a tray 28 and a mode B for accumulating the reversed sheets on a stacking base 21 and discharging them to the tray 28 after binding them by a stapler 15. The sheets stacked on the stacking base 21 are pushed out by the rotation of a discharging arm 20 having a pulse motor as the drive source. The speed control and stop control of this pulse motor are performed by controlling the frequency of the drive pulse. In the mode B, the discharging arm 20 is started on the basis of the signal showing the stapling end by the stapler 15, and the pulse motor is rotated at a rotating speed higher than in the mode A.
