Abstract:
To provide a sheet discrimination device capable of executing discrimination of a sheet without replacing polarity of a drive signal, etc. even when two terminals in a transmission part and a reception part are attached with incorrect polarity.SOLUTION: A signal processing part, when a reception signal detected at a first time point where a predetermined time has passed from the starting of transmission of ultrasonic wave by a transmission part does not satisfy a predetermined condition which indicates that a drive part supplies a drive signal corresponding to polarities of a first terminal and a second terminal in the transmission part and further a detection part detects the reception signal corresponding to polarities of a third terminal and a fourth terminal in a reception part, executes discrimination with respect to a sheet by comparing the reception signal detected by the detection part at a second time point after further (2n-1)/2 times (where, n is a natural number) of a period of the drive signal than the first time point, and a reference after correction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
