Abstract:
To accurately detect positions of both ends of a sheet in a width direction.SOLUTION: A compound machine 10 comprises: a medium sensor 110 which radiates light toward a platen 42 which supports a sheet 12, and outputs an electric signal according to an amount of reflectance of said light; a carriage 23 which has the medium sensor 110, and reciprocatingly moves in a longitudinal direction 9; and a control part 130. The control part 130 causes the medium sensor 110 to radiate light of a first amount while moving the carriage 23 and acquires a first electric signal outputted from the medium sensor 110 (S50), causes the medium sensor 110 to radiate light of a second amount smaller than the first amount while moving the carriage 23 and acquires a second electric signal outputted from the medium sensor 110 (S40), calculates an average value of a maximum value of the first electric signal and a minimum value of the second electric signal and determines a position in the longitudinal direction 9 corresponding to said average value as an end of the sheet 12 in the longitudinal direction 9 which is supported by the platen 42 (S60).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
