Abstract:
To provide a sheet feeder enabling the detection of skew occurring while media are fed and a method of detecting the skew.
This sheet feeder comprises a feeding means 3 capable of feeding sheet-like media, a plurality of movement amount detection means 71, 72 capable of detecting the movement amount of the media fed by the feeding means 3 at a plurality of positions along the lateral direction of the media, and a skew detection means 54 for detecting the skew of the media according to the movement amount detected by the movement amount detection means 71, 72. The skew occurring while the media are fed can be detected.
