Abstract:
To quickly feed a sheet while enabling stable feeding of the sheet.SOLUTION: First feeding means (107) is disposed at a confluence of a conveying path of sheets fed from a placement unit (102) provided in a sheet storage unit (101) and a conveying path of sheets fed by second feeding means (121). First detecting means (1) detects that the first feeding means is at a feeding position between a lower position and an upper position. When the sheet storage unit is inserted into a device body, a lift-up operation is performed to raise the placement unit from a state in which the first feeding means is at the lower position to a state in which the first detecting means is in a detecting state. When feeding sheets from the placement unit after the lift-up operation, the first feeding means does not move from the feeding position, and when feeding sheets by the second feeding means, the first feeding means moves to the upper position.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 11
