To provide a sheet-like article conveying device suitable for high speed conveying of the sheet-like article and provided with function for stably inspecting the sheet-like article in a short time.

The device is provided with an upper conveying belt 11 at an upper side and a lower conveying belt 21 at a lower side of a conveying route 1 for conveying laver S (sheet-like article). The laver S is inspected by an inspection device 30 comprising a light source 31 and a photographing camera 32 on the midway of conveying for the laver S by the respective conveying belts 11, 21. The respective conveying belts 11, 21 are endlessly circulated/moved between the conveying route 1 and returning routes 19, 26 left from the conveying route 1 and returning again onto the conveying route 1 respectively. The returning routes 19, 26 of the respective conveying belts 11, 21 are set such that they do not enter a light irradiation area arriving from the light source 31 to the photographing camera while transmitting the laver S.
