PURPOSE: To permit a variety of handlings for a sheet material by forming a sheet material transport passage by installing a switch-back path for returning the sheet material to the feeding side, reversing path for revesing the front and back surfaces, and flappers for branching the passage.

CONSTITUTION: The first and second flappers 10 and 14 and a reversing path 17 which has a flapper C15 and a reversing roller 16 and is used also as switch-back path are installed into the transport passage for a sheet material 19. In case of one-sided copying, the sheet material 19 is printed and fixed, and then allowed to pass through the upper passage of the first flapper 10, and is discharged by a discharge roller 7. In multiple copying, the sheet material 19 is allowed to pass through a lower transport part 8, guided by the first flapper 10, and then passes through the upper part of the flapper 10 before the arrival of the second copying signal, and is discharged in the same procedure to that in the one-sided copying. In the both surface copying, the sheet is caught into the reversing roller 16 from the right side passage of the second flapper, passing through the upper part of the first flapper, and the second copying is carried out by allowing the sheet material to pass through the lower transport part 8 from the left side passage of the first flapper 10 by the reversal of the discharging and reversing rollers 7 and 16. Thus, a variety of handlings are permitted.
