PURPOSE: To produce a low-cost sheet material capable of maintaining excellent water- and oil-repelling properties for a long period and having a nubuck-like visual appearance and to provide its production method.

CONSTITUTION: This is a sheet material produced by coating and impregnating a base fabric with a polyurethane resin, subsequently applying wet-coagulation treatment to the polyurethane resin and raising the surface of the resultant sheet material and having a nubuck-like visual appearance. In this sheet material having a nubuck-like visual appearance, a base fabric subjected to raising treatment is characteristically used as the base fabric and a non-yellowing type polycarbonate-based polyurethane resin containing a fluorourethane compound is characteristically used as the polyurethane resin. As the base fabric, a fabric in which the fibers constituting the raised part have ≤1 denier single yarn fineness is preferably used.
