PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To count the number of sheet materials, such as paper, in a short time.SOLUTION: A sheet material supply device includes: first transfer means which transfers sheet materials one by one from a second holding part 208 to a first holding part 204, which hold the sheet materials, and includes a second feed roller 205, a second pickup roller 206, and a second separation roller 207; count means including an optical sensor 210 which counts the number of the sheet materials transferred from the second holding part 208 to the first holding part 204 by the first transfer means; and supply means which supplies the sheet materials from the first holding part 204 to a predetermined supply destination and includes a first feed roller 201, a first pickup roller 202, and a first separation roller 203.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
