To provide a sheet metal working method capable of conducting highly accurate bending in a stable state without interfering with a base material when bending a cut product cut by laser cutting, and further capable of continuously travelling and bending the products.

When cutting the outline of a cut product W from a base material 1 such as a sheet metal by a laser machining apparatus (not shown), the outline is cut with support joint parts 4a, 4b, 4b (at least one part, but three parts in this embodiment) left. When cutting the outline, the outline is cut while making such a cutting gap h that a to-be-worked outline part of the cut products W is bent and deformed in the next step (a semi-finished bending step) but does not interfere with the base material 1. The amount of deformation of the cut product W is previously measured, when bending the cut product W cut from the base material 1, by a press machine 2 (a bending machine) in the next step. The cutting gap h is formed with dimensions corresponding to the amount of the deformation.
