To prevent a recording sheet, in the midst of pressing the recording sheet by a side fence to position the recording sheet in a manual feed tray, from being stuck with a detection lever 661 for detecting a sheet.
A sheet detection means 66 detects existence of the recording sheet on the tray based on a position of the detection lever 661 that can swing between a first position and a second position, and moves from the first position to the second position by movement centering around a swing shaft as it abuts on the recording sheet placed on the tray in a state being biased toward the first position by a coil spring 665. The sheet detection means 66 is constituted as follows. Namely, a plurality of detection levers 661 arranged side by side along a moving direction of the side fence for aligning the recording sheet are coupled with each other by a swing shaft member 662, to integrally swing between the first position and the second position.
