Abstract:

To provide a sheet processing apparatus that can enhance productivity in flattening a fold top of a sheet bundle.

The sheet processing apparatus includes a finisher having: folding roller pairs 810a, 810b for conveying a folded sheet bundle to a processing position; a folding and conveying motor clock sensor for detecting a conveying amount of the sheet bundle; a roller sheet discharging sensor 672 for detecting the tip of the sheet bundle; and a holding unit for holding the sheet bundle in a thickness direction thereof. When the folding and conveying motor clock sensor detects that the folded sheet bundle is conveyed by a distance L after the roller sheet discharging sensor 672 has detected the tip of the sheet bundle, the CPU instructs the holding unit to start holding the sheet bundle and then the folding roller pairs 810a, 810b to stop conveying the sheet bundle so that the sheet bundle reaches the processing position when held by the holding unit.
