To achieve front-part binding and inner-part binding at identical binding position in a sub-scanning direction.
A sheet processing device includes front and rear rear-end reference fences 51, 51b which can move along a sheet rear end ST and against which the sheet rear end ST abut and which aligns the sheet rear end ST and an end-face binding stapler which moves along the sheet rear end ST and binds a bundle of aligned sheets. The sheet processing device further includes a lengthwise moving mechanism which moves the rear-end reference fences 51, 51b in a sheet conveyance direction, and position change means changing the position of one of the rear-end reference fences 51a, 51b in the sheet conveyance direction relatively to the position of the other, and moves the front and rear rear-end reference fences 51a, 51b in the sheet conveyance direction by the position change means to change the binding position so that the distance from the sheet end ST to a staple position is the same between front-part binding and inner-part binding.
