To provide a sheet reading sorter for successively reading information such as barcodes from sheets with the information printed thereon and sorting and discharging those read successfully and those not to different discharge parts, which can be set in a place with spatial limitation such as a place near a wall with small setting area without impairing the operability, and be improved in processing rate.

A paper supplying part, a discharge part for discharging sheets which are not read successfully, and a discharge part for discharging sheets read successfully, are arranged in order from the lower part on one surface side of the device. The sheets read successfully are U-turned within the device and discharged, while the sheets which are not read successfully are reversed in the carrying direction within the device and discharged. Further, a scanner and a stamp are arranged so that position adjustment of the scanner or attachment/detachment of the stamp can be performed from one surface side of the device.
