Title:
SHEET-SHAPED GLASS FIBER-REINFORCED THERMOPLASTIC RESIN FOR MOLDING
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH05318473
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a sheet-shaped glass fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin which can be properly used for compression molding and exhibits excellent flow properties by a method wherein at least a specified number of webs each consisting of a glass fiber for reinforcement and a thermoplastic resin particle are laminated and the laminate is integrated by heating and pressing.

CONSTITUTION: A web can be obtd. e.g. by making a glass fiber chopped strand and a thermoplastic resin particle into a paper by means of a paper manufacturing method. After drying this web, at least 4 sheets, pref. at least 6 sheets are laminated and the laminate is heated to melt the thermoplastic resin and it is integrated by pressing it between cooling stages. As larger the number of lamination of the webs, entanglement in the thickness direction becomes less and a product with excellent moldability can be obtd. It is pref. that the length of the glass fiber is 6-50mm and the wt. ratio GF/resin of the glass fiber(GF) and the thermoplastic resin (resin) in the sheet is 20/80-70/30.
