Abstract:
The construction comprises a frame having spaced parallel rails and a spring assembly mounted on the frame. The spring assembly including a pair of longitudinally extending wires (15), each wire having a resilient layer thereon, a plurality of transversely extending wires (17) having free ends wound about the layers of the longitudinally extending wires, each free end being wound about a longitudinally extending wire for a first complete revolution (18) and at least 180 DEG of a second revolution (19) spaced longitudinally relative to the first convolution with the extreme portion (20) of the free end extending toward the plane of the transverse wires. Each of the convolutions has a diameter less than the outer diameter of the resilient layer in the untensioned state. A plurality of supporting tension springs (13) have one end connected to a longitudinally extending wire and the other end to at least one rail of the frame.
