The apparatus includes: a power supply unit 200 which outputs an operating voltage +5V in the operating mode and which suspends output of the operating voltage in the low power mode; a mode control means 91 which switches the low power mode/the operating mode; transferring means 45-47 which operate with the operating voltage +5V and transport sheet; state detection means 111a, 111b, 91 which detect abnormal condition; status information means 114a, 114b; a transfer control means 90 which operates with the operating voltage +5V, controls the transferring means, and provides status information means with information indication if the state detection means detects abnormal condition; and switching means 106-108 which provides the status information means with the information indication in the operating mode and provides the status information means with state detection signal in the low power mode. The status information means performs status information according to state detection signal by using silence activity voltage +5VE outputted by the power supply unit in the low power mode.
