To provide a sheet type discrimination device capable of discriminating the type of sheets when the type of the sheets may not correspond, at high possibility, to sheet information in a sheet information storage means corresponding to the sheets at such a timing that is not considered in a conventional structure for discriminating the type of the sheets.
This sheet type discrimination device 300 comprises a paper type detection sensor 30 as a sheet information acquiring means, a paper type storage part 32 as a sheet information storage means, and a data clear part 33 as a sheet information deleting means. When the jamming of the sheets is detected, a paper type storage value Yn as the sheet information stored in the paper type storage part 32 is deleted.
