PURPOSE: To convey a sheetlike article without producing any slip with a conveying device, by detecting thickness in the sheetlike article and, according to a variation in the thickness, generating such torque as being resistible to frictional force varying in the opposite direction to conveyance between a support part and the sheetlike article.
CONSTITUTION: A recording paper 4 is rolled on a platen 3, and the paper thickness detected by a paper thickness detecting unit 12 is recorded in a memory part 26 through a paper thickness detecting part 25. Next, it is compared with the comparison value preset in a comparing paper thickness memory part 27 at a comparing part 28, and when it is larger than the setting comparison value, a selecting part 29 selects Table B or A from a drive controlling information housing part 30 of a paper feed motor 11. Afterward, it comes into a state of waiting to input a paper feed motor driving command, whereby a control part 31 is energized so as to cause a paper feed motor driving device 32 to generate such torque as corresponding to the paper thickness of the recording paper. Therefore, even if the command is inputted to whatever paper thickness may be, the recording paper is conveyable at proper torque.
