To provide a shell roller bearing for a laminated connecting rod and a connecting rod assembly, which can prevent a roller from skewing and traversing.
The shell roller bearing 4 for the laminated connecting rod is pressed in a bearing inserting holes 7 and 8 at a large end 2 or a small end 3 in the laminated connecting rod 1 to form the connecting rod assembly. The shell roller bearing 4 has an outer ring 11, a plurality of needle rollers 12 and a retainer 13 to retain a plurality of rollers 12. In the retainer 13, a crosswise intermediate portion is press-formed to a cross-sectional shape sunken toward the inside diameter side than both the ends, in which a pocket 14 is formed in a plurality of circumferential positions to make the portion between the pockets 14 and 14 a pillar 13b. The portion positioned at a pitch circle diameter PCD of a needle roller arrangement in the inside surface along the pocket 14 in the longitudinal direction is made as a shear surface 14a near the longitudinal intermediate part of the pillar 13b, and as a fracture surface 14b in the root section.
