To provide a shift control device for an automatic transmission, enabling to widen a manual shift possible region of the automatic transmission which can perform automatic shift-up in a manual mode, by ensuring appropriate hysteresis between an automatic up-shift line and a down-shift permission line.
The hysteresis between the automatic up-shift line and the down-shift permission line is set to be smaller as an accelerator opening is smaller. This suppresses an extreme reduction of a time interval between down-shift and up-shift in the conditions that the accelerator opening is greater to easily cause hunting. On the other hand, the manual down-shift possible region can widened to the high-rotation side in the conditions that the accelerator opening is smaller to hardly cause hunting, to meet the manual down-shift requirement of a driver in a high vehicle speed range.
