This shift control mechanism for an automobile transmission has four shift heads 11-14 for the automobile transmission with a twin clutch gear train. The control mechanism permits the precedent movement of the shift head to the shift position corresponding to the selective shift stage next to the shift stage during travel and holds the shift head at the shift position corresponding to the shift stage during travel and the other shift stage. It comprises a shift interlock block 2 for preventing the movement of the shift head in a shift direction, other than the shift head being relatively moved in a select direction and corresponding to a selected gear and an inner lever 3 for permitting the movement of the selected shift head in the shift direction.
