To provide a shift lever device in which the risk of an erroneous operation can be suppressed.
The shift lever device has a shift pattern in which an R range and a P range are disposed ahead of an N range, and a D range is disposed in a lateral direction from the N range. A block 7b having an elongated hole 7a extending in a front-rear direction is integrally formed with a shift lever 2 at a position ahead of and sideway of a large sphere part 2b at the bottom of the shift lever 2, and a spherical pin 5a, which protrudes on a side face of a shift arm 5 having a rear end pivotally attached to a retainer 4 by a horizontal shaft 22, is fitted into the elongated hole 7a. When the shift lever 2 is operated to shift from the N range to the forward R or P range, the top end of the shift arm 5 is moved downward, and when the shift lever 2 is operated to select the N range into the lateral D range, the top end of the shift arm 5 is moved upward.
