Abstract:
To provide a shift lever lock device for a motor vehicle which enables work of locking a shift lever to a specific shift position securely and unlocking the shift lever to be performed easily in a short time.SOLUTION: A shift lever lock device 10 for a motor vehicle has multiple shift positions and can lock a shift lever 12 of a gearshift device 2 connected by a gear change cable 4 and release the lock. The shift lever lock device 10 for the motor vehicle includes a cover member 14, a lock member, and a positioning part. The cover member 14 covers a base part 12c of the shift lever 12. The cover member 14 has: a shift gate 14f which restricts a movable range of the shift lever 12; and a first opening 14g which is located adjacent to the shift gate 14f and is provided associated with a specific shift position of the shift lever 12. The lock member has elasticity, is inserted into the first opening 14g, and detachably attached to the base part 12c.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
