To prevent wandering feeling of a shift lever in a manual transmission or the like and occurrence of interference noise by oscillation.

This shift lever consists of a cylindrical upper lever 2 provided with a shift knob mounting part 3 in a top end part, and a shaft-like lower lever 4 onto which the upper lever 2 is fitted from the above. A low-hardness vibration proof rubber 7 is mounted in a middle part of the lower lever 4. The low-hardness vibration-proof rubber 7 is brought into close contact with the inner periphery of the upper lever 2 in such a condition that the upper lever 2 is fitted onto the lower lever 4. There is provided a shift lever 1 mounted with stoppers 8, 8A which is comprised of high hardness materials through the inner periphery of the upper lever 2 and a clearance in the top end and bottom end of the lower lever 4. When high load is exerted on the top end in the shift lever 1, and lever inclination is received at the upper and lower stoppers 8, 8A, thus increasing rigid feeling, restraining the wandering feeling such as rubber flexible feeling, decreasing vibrational value, and preventing occurrence of interference noise.
