To provide a shift lock mechanism for generating less operating noise during changing a shift lever.
The shift lock mechanism comprises the shift lever 2 having a positioning pin 4 movable up and down, a detent cutout portion 3 formed in a base plate 1 in a shift lever device body, with which the positioning pin engages for setting the shift lever 2 at a given shift position, a lock lever 5 turnably mounted on the base plate 1, and a solenoid 8 connected to the lock lever 5 via a plunger 9 for moving the plunger 9 forward or backward to turn the lock lever 5. The lock lever 5 has an oblong hole 7 with which the end of the plunger 9 movably engages. As the turning motion of the lock lever 5 increases when turning to a C1 direction, the rotating angle speed is reduced.
