Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve the productivity of the pickling line of mild steel by regulating the composition and the temperature of a pickling bath of shorten the pickling time to a maximum.
CONSTITUTION: In a method where the mild steel is continuously pickled by removing the scale of the mild steel formed during the hot works by immersing the mild steel in a pickling bath containing the mixture of sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid and Fe(II) ion for the determined time, the system with the sulfuric acid concentration A and the hydrochloric acid B is determined for at least one determined FE(II) ion concentration and at least one determined temperature in order to obtain the optimum pickling time. The optimum pickling time is obtained as the optimum response value by the Simplex method by comparing the values of the pickling time obtained for the continuous values of A and B, where A and B are regarded variable, and the Fe(II) ion concentration and the temperature are constant.
