Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a novel compound having a DNA-cleaving action and an active oxygen species-eliminating action and useful for autoimmune disease- therapeutic agents, antiarteriosclerosis agents. carcinogenesis-preventing agents, inflammatory agents, etc.
CONSTITUTION: The shikonin metal complex compound of the shikonin of the formula with a metal ion compound. For example, shikonin-copper complex. The shikonin metal complex compound is obtained e.g. by reacting the shikonin with a metal ion such as Fe3+ or Mn2+ in an inactive solvent such as methanol.
