To effectively use boil-off gas of an LNG tank as a power generating fuel in the case of adopting a two-cycle (low-speed) gas-fired diesel engine as a main propelling engine.
A ship propelling system using boil-off gas (BOG) of an LNG tank (10) includes: two-cycle main gas-fired diesel engines (5a, 5b) at least using LNG as a fuel and main propellers (1a, 1b); a gas compressor (30) for compressing the boil-off gas; gas-fired power generating diesel engines (20a, 20b, 20c) at least using the boil-off gas compressed by the gas compressor as a fuel; generators (21a, 21b, 21c) for generating power with motive power of the gas-fired power generating diesel engines; and auxiliary propelling devices (3a, 3b) for energizing the drive of the main propellers by the main gas-fired diesel engines according to the power generated by the generators.
