To provide a ship propulsion apparatus that enables safe voyage even in an emergency, and to provide a ship provided with the same.
The ship propulsion apparatus 3 includes: an engine 4 accommodated in a hull 2; a power transmission mechanism 5 disposed outside the hull 2 to transmit the rotation power of the engine 4 to a propeller 6; a pump 8, which absorbs water for cooling the engine 4 from outside via a water absorption line 7; a main drainage line 9, which drains the water after cooling the engine 4 to outside; and a flow regulating valve 11, which is installed to be located near the hull 2 and capable of regulating the flow rate of the main drainage line 9. The main drainage line 9 is connected to a propeller boss 28 immersed in water, while the propeller boss 28 is opened to propel the hull 2 by a water stream from the main drainage line 9.
