PURPOSE: To support an upper structure in a buffering manner through the mutual repulsion force of electromagnets, so as to decrease propagation of oscillation from a main ship hull to an upper structure containing a bridge.

CONSTITUTION: A ship with a mutual repulsion type electromagnet for supporting an upper structure in a buffering manner is provided with a main ship hull 1 and an upper structure 3 disposed thereabove and independently from the main ship hull 1. A plurality of recessed parts 1a and 1b and protrusion parts 3a and 3b are formed in the one and on the other of the ship hull 1 and the upper structure 3, respectively, so as to loosely engage with each other. Further, electromagnets 7, 8, 10 and 11 are mounted so that the recessed parts 1a, 1b and the protrusion parts 3a, 3b are caused to effect repulsion with each other by means of an electromagnetic force. The upper structure 3 is supported in a buffering manner to the main ship hull 1 by means of the recessed parts, the protrusion parts, and the electromagnets. A posture detector 12 by which the posture of the main ship hull 1 or the upper structure 3 can be detected and a controller 5 by which a repulsion force between the electromagnets is controllable based on a detected signal from the posture detector 12 are provided.
