Abstract:
PURPOSE:To attain an accurate shipping action by writing previously a prescribed flag on a shipping area and then reading out the flag for comparison. CONSTITUTION:When a shipping action instruction is inputted by an operator through an input/output console 4, a program stored in a main memory 2 is started. Then a seeking action is applied to the shipping area of a head of a fixed disk device 3 based on the arithmetic operation of a main arithmetic part 11. A flag is read with a setting action of a flag setting part 12. If this reading action succeeds, a flag deciding part 13 checks whether the flag is correct or not. When the flag is not correct, the head has no shift to a prescribed area and the retries are carried out in a prescribed frequency counted by the arithmetic operation of the part 11. When said retrying frequency exceeds a prescribed level, warning is displayed on the console 4. While it is decided that a correct shipping action is carried out when the flag is correct.
