PURPOSE: To detect an angle that a cable enters water by the number of contact pieces, with which the laid cable contacts, by mounting a plurality of contact pieces to a cable drawing portion of a stern portion of shipping for laying a submarine cable.
CONSTITUTION: A plurality of contact pieces 2 are disposed to a cable drawing portion mounted to an end portion of a hull 1 in an approx. arched shape. A detector 3 is communicated with the contact pieces 2, thus detecting the condition of the contact of a cable C with the contact pieces 2. Consequently, the larger an angle θ that the cable C enters water is, the more the number of the contact pieces contacting with the cable C becomes; the less the angle θ that the cable C enters water is, the less the number of the contact piece contacting with the cable C becomes. Thus, the angle θ that the cable C enters water can be detected by the conditions of the contact pieces 2
