PURPOSE: To secure an optimum type of a ship without performing any model tests, by systematically changing each specification for a hull form under the condition that displacement is constant and a hull surface area is below the limited value, while calculating such a form as making the total amount of viscous pressure resistance, frictional resistance and peeling resistance minimal, by means of a numerical expression.
CONSTITUTION: Those of viscous pressure resistance Rvp obtainable with pressure with shearing stree on the hull surface integrated to its whole surface and peeling resistance Rsp or hull resistance in the more rearward than a peeling point are all found with each numerical expression. And, on the condition that displacement is constant and hull surface area is below the limited value, each parameter showing each hull form is systematically changed whereby calculation for each resistance value takes place. According to this method, such an optimum hull form as making the hull resistance smaller is securable without performing any model tests which must be repeatedly performed.
